Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5. The virus spreads from person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can then attack the nervous system.
Members of Rotary Clubs in Auckland have participated in and annual `Ride a Train to Enable Others to Walk Challenge’ on 1st November each year from 8am-6pm.
Starting from Britomart Station, the ‘Tag You On Tag Polio Off’ Rotary fundraiser has celebrities including politicians, business leaders and corporate head honchos hopping in and out of the train on different stations to help raise funds for End Polio Now Challenge. |
