Change Over Dinner
Wednesday 29th at the Parnell. This should be entertaining - David H is taking over and is putting his plans together! $50 pp - paid to the normal account - sorry I don't have the number!
Sargent:
Naturally David J reminded us of the news, especially of the 'resignation' of an interviewer at TVNZ after allegations of .....nobody has details. David's quote,"I used to be followed by HR with a cheque book"!
A member (nameless as it could be me next time) failed to come early to carry out his door duties. Naturally he was named and shamed - and was required to make a noteworthy contribution!
Speaker:
Our very own Marian Ioan told us about hypobaric chambers. These are high pressure cylinders that are charged with oxygen so the people inside them breath in much more oxygen than normal, thus benefitting them in a number of ways.
Air contains about 21% oxygen. When it's inhaled the lungs absorb about 4% of this. The body consists of cells which, when they divide, slightly reduce the length of their telomeres and when these are all gone you're dead. (For a more scientific and accurate description talk to Max!)
Anything that can increase the length these telomeres is a good thing, you live longer, and it seems that these oxygen infused chambers do just that.
Additionally they can be used to speed up tissue recovery after disease or accidents. In fact the FDA in the States have approved their use in fifteen different circumstances and some other countries have approved their use in well over 100 other conditions.
There are already a few in New Zealand and you can have one of your very own. All you need is $100,000 for a one person chamber to $160,000 for a group one, plus a reasonable sized room for the chamber itself and it ancillary equipment. Then for 90 minutes at least once a week you could be cured of all that ails you! I exaggerate but they are supposed to be good for recovery from jet lag and hangovers, what more could one want?
Actually they sounded quite effective machines. In due course we will be told that public hospitals can't afford them so they will appear in private clinics near you.
All in all an interesting talk!
A Public Service Announcement:
With the relaxing of COVID-19 control measures and the reopening of borders, we’re expecting a resurgence of flu in 2022.
We need more participants around New Zealand to help us track the impact of both flu and COVID-19 in your local community.
Please INVITE 2 FRIENDS to join by sharing this link:
https://www.flutracking.net/Join/NE/inv84
We’d really appreciate you forwarding this email to all the other big-hearted community-minded people you know who would be willing to give 20 seconds per week to help us track flu and COVID-19. They will receive a weekly report and a map of respiratory illness in return!
Thanks for your time and support.
