Welcome back to - Geoff, great to have you back. Our Guest Speaker this morning was Martyn Neeby from - Zenith Techica - Zenith Tecnica is an additive manufacturer specialising in titanium parts. The company uses Electron Beam Melting (EBM) to Additively Manufacture (AM) parts direct from 3-D CAD files. Based in Auckland, the company employs four mechanical/metallurgical engineers, and also post graduate students who undertake supervised research into mechanical and metallurgical aspects of EBM/AM. They are all passionate and enthusiastic about what they do and create. With Additive Manufacturing (AM), parts are built by successively melting thin layers of metal powder together. Material is added instead of removed, as is the case in traditional “subtractive” machining. Their products are varied, ranging from Medical parts - Knee joints / Aerospace and Marine Componentry / High End Sportings applications and even the Shoe industry.
