President Phil opened the meeting at 7.34 am
There was a notice!
Barry has been in touch with Countdown but their progress is hampered by the lockdown
This was the AGM meeting so the following notes are not the official minutes which secretary Peter will produce in due course.
Most importantly incoming president David H and I have a significant advantage during our current imprisonment, oops Freudian slip, lockdown . We're bald, or damn near, so we do not suffer from the lack of barbers. Some do - and it shows. However, it's good to see that everybody is fit and well!
Treasurer Don reminded us why the club's trust had been created; mainly to ensure that charitable donation were not subject to tax.
Both balance sheet and the profit and loss statements had been circulated and were again put up on screen for all members to view.
YHC was very proud that when studying for his MBA that he got a C+ (very nearly a fail) for financial accounting and an A+ for management accounting: Taurus excreta cerebrum vincit - bullshit baffles brains!
However Don and Colin do a great job ensuring that we do know what's going on. And credit where credit's due, it was Don who made us all aware that we we were going to have to make major changes in how we fund our activities as we will receive much less from the golf day in future.
Adoption of the financial reports was moved by Don S, seconded by Ted and passed.
This note was included last week:
This is our 10th Zoom meeting. When we go to meetings we pay $22 plus whatever our excellent (and currently absent!) sargent extracts from us. That means that each of us have saved at least $220! Equally the club has not been able to raise funds for many of our projects / charities.
So how about a tax deductible donation of $100? The club's trust account bank number is
12 3109 0110290 02
Put your name in the appropriate slot so Don can send you a receipt for the tax thieves.
So far seven members have made a contribution. Well done them. Let's see just how generous Rotarians are!
There was a presentation from Phil and Don C on the clubs future. Some very radical proposals which can be debated by the club over the coming months. The very clear slides that were shown will be circulated for mature consideration. A working group of Incoming President David, Greg, Colleen, Ingrid and Sue will start to thrash out some of the details. It's going to be an exciting and demanding time, people!
The club's trust trustees have changed. Ted and Ingrid retired by rotation and Greg and Rory have been appointed to join Colleen and Barry as the four trustees for next year.
President Phil closed the meeting at 8.29.
Next week's meeting: Phillippa has circulated the CV of next week's speaker. One of the few advantages of Zoom (other than money saving) is that we can get speakers from all over the world! A couple fo weeks ago Australia and now Canada. Good, eh?
