Welcome to Parnell Rotary on 22nd August 2018 20 members today Apologies - Don Simons & Barry Fitzgerald Guests Stephanie from Rotoract / Isabel, Dan and Campbell Rylarians and Chang-Ho, who is looking to apply for a Rotary Scholarship and would like to apply for a Global Rotary Fund to assist in his Cancer Genetic studies at Harvard in 2019. ******** Our Speakers this Week - Charles Lambert and Jimmy Griffith from Shelter Box NZ. Shelter Box - Is a Fit for Purpose and Needs based resourse. SB has affiliates worldwide. 60% of their funding comes via Rotary clubs and is a Rotary International favourite and they had a large presents in Toronto. SB have relationships with Red Cross, World Vision and Nobel Peace Prize. 90% of deployments are assisted by Rotarians, which results in getting effective Aid for each disaster zone. Jimmy Griffith is a volunteer for Shelter Box who is asked to drop everything at the last minute and assist in disasters, such as the Rohingya Crisis in Bangladesh. Jimmy described that the worldwide displacement is currently 85,000,000 and rising, dramatically! HOW Can we help? Their Vision to HELP 1 Million People Every Year by 2025. The host also does not know who is coming, until there's a knock on the door on the evening of 22nd September. The GUEST brings a bottle of their liking and pays a $30.00 donation to Parnell Rotary Trust. The Guest is notified by text on the morning of 22nd, (SO PLEASE make sure your Mobile number is up-to-date on club runner), of the address of the host.
