Presidential announcements.
Max mentioned that on a recent trip to Adelaide he had been able to catch up with Jim Staples, who is in fine fettle, even looking for premises for a new soap factory!
The club "Turnover" will be early in June ,the 12th, at La La Cafe, 6pm to 8pm,$25 per head, with an orange and blue theme.
3 Minute speaker was Max a graduate of Otago Medical school, at which Jack Lovelock studied-went on to be the 1500 metre gold medalist at "Hitler's"1936 Olympic Games-He died in 1949 when he fell under a subway train in New York-according to Max's readings, a death by accident, not suicide.
Sargents Session.Wendi wanted attendees to try standing on one leg-20 seconds for those over 65, but only 5 seconds for those over 80-(I do not know about what those under 65 had to do, they are probably still standing there.)
Wendi raised as many laughs as dollar notes.
Our Speakers were James, Elena,Lucy and Sanji ,the leaders of the Interact Club at ACGParnell. The clubs 47 members have a project each term, the most recent being a baking and mufti day which raised $1,440 for Cystic Fibrosis.
The next one will be a Red Nose Day .It sounded a well organised, enthusiastic group of very capable young people.
Lucy spoke of her recent experience at a Rypen weekend where she enjoyed various team projects, which gave her a lot of self confidence, through meeting new people and team leading.
After the meeting Ingid advises she received messages from the students-"memorable and looked forward to returning-great to see a Rotary club in action with various projects-".
