OMG yet another Zoom meeting!  At least they're free and they do allow a lot of member's interactions, even if these are dominated by a few of the our more loquacious colleagues! Some people are shopping, in crowded indoor supermarkets but not in the more relaxed outdoor, community based farmer's markets. Inconsistently we're still not allowed to have a coffee out of doors with friends. So, pressing together in a toy shop, fine, having the a cup of java with friends out of doors, No! Dumb!
It looks as though the club will not be able to meet in person before Christmas, but if you understand the proposed traffic light systems could you explain it to YHC?

Cast: In order of appearance: President Phil,  David H, Ingrid, Henry, Don S, Jim, Don C, Peter D, Greg, Peter B, Ted, Barry, Colleen, Phillippa, Rory, Jane, Avis, Ying Zhau and Your Humble Correspondent.
There were no apologies just a number of consistent absentees who will not know what the club is doing and will be unable to contribute to its future.

President Phil opened the meeting at 7.33 am

Notices:
Golf Maestro Barry reported: Censored - you had to be there.
Ingrid: Rotoract are using their international connections and the global reach of the internet to use members' expertise to facilitate global seminars. Contact Ingrid for details.
Beyond Water: (A representative made a good impression when she spoke to the club a little while ago) We have organised is a Zoom presentation for people to meet some of our volunteers, hear from Mary in Kenya, see what’s happening on the ground in East Africa and also have our online auction going live. The presentation starts at 7.30pm, Saturday November 20th (NZ time).

(Comment in passing -we're incredibly lucky to have Ingrid as a member not only for her contribution to the wider world of Rotary but keeping us informed of what's going on)

Party, party party! Phillippa has circulated details of a bit of a knees up (English expression, sorry, education will out!) Wednesday Dec 1 - Kinder House., 5.30pm Garden party - this might be the only time that we can get together this year and comment on everybody's hair style, or even let it down. It will be fun - naturally YHC will be there so both my readers can comment on  style (and accuracy)!

Meeting's topic: Report back from the working group that have been looking at the club's future.
slides which were displayed to the 'meeting' will be circulated.
In a nutshell (this is YHC's version, look at the slides to see the authorised version!)

The survey of members showed that there were two basic requirements, in simple terms the status quo and the new monthly/project based model that Henry advocated a few weeks ago.
The team proposed that the structure to satisfy these needs would be two streams - a continuation of the breakfast meetings, with relatively limited changes and the establishment of a new group which could have members who were more transitory, focused on projects with monthly meetings with a relevant speaker at a meeting where drinks could be bought.

Current members would be invited to opt for one or other 'stream' but the boundaries would be flexible so members  could attend either (or both) stream's  meetings.

There was considerable discussion on structures with Ingrid suggesting that the 'evening stream' could be a satellite club. Both streams would have operating bank accounts with the trustees holding the purse strings on charitable disbursements.  The devil's in the detail but none of the suggested difficulties appeared insurmountable.

Don C proposed one of the offering we could have in the local community was a business mentoring service. Once again details of this have been circulated. This could be launched when businesses come out of lockdown and are trying to reestablish themselves.

It came across loud and clear that some members are dissatisfied with the current structure and the club is currently not attracting new members so it's evolve or die.

A lot of work has been out in by Henry, Phil, Phillipa and Don C, to get us this far. We can all hope that the ten or so members who haven't Zoomed in during the last three months will rejoin the club and participate in its development in whatever form(s) in takes over the next few months.
President Phil closed the meeting at 8.49.
