Guest Speaker
There wasn't an invited speaker so general conversation ensured. This was well informed by Malcolm and Phil who told us of the serious infrastucture shortfall in Auckland. Malcolm was
particularly strong on the failures of past and current local body politicians to properly fund either maintenance of existing water pipes or augmentation to cope with densification. He suggested that rates would have to increase substantially to overcome this shortfall. Phil was able to cast wee bit of optimism on the gloom by saying that Auckland's thirty year Unitary plan had been approved by all and if implemented would address many of these issues.
Despite not have in a formal speaker President David's opening remark proved prescient.
The meeting concluded at 8.21
