The meeting started at 7.30 am;
Members Present:
Twelve members were present plus one guest speaker. Apologies from: Greg, Henry, and Peter.
President:
The President announced the Cans for a Cause project which is targeting the collection of 1 million food cans between 9th and 16th June. This relates to the 20% of the population who, it is claimed, live in some degree of food poverty. This is a great project for profile building and connections. Signs are to be made. Wendy will supply robust book boxes which will be good to hold cans. This can tie in with the schools and supermarkets with whom we have a relationship, and with Kathy's Starlight initiative.
A great day was had at Gizmo's Garden last Thursday. The winter vegetables are growing well.
Corporal Nick:
Nick stepped into the breach in Colleen's absence, apparently in a move to "keep up with the Joneses". We are traversing Airies in the celestial orb - dynamic and vibrant, impulsive and loyal are Airies. Otherwise dodgy! Don confessed to having a birthday.
Albert Hoffman - a Swiss chemist, invented LSD in 1938. Anny Oakley hit 100 clay targets in a row on this day sometime in the past, and on behalf of Rory, the Battle of Culloden was acknowledged. Masada finally fell to the Romans on this day - even further in the past. The Bush/Bagget line established the US/Canada border. Thanks for the history lesson, Nick!
The price of petrol; is down and apparently, there are no real Easter eggs - only bunnies! Quelle horeur! We learned nothing new!
Three-Minute Speaker:
Wendy told of her lunch with Graham Norton. Twelve people were there of which seven were publishers - but two and a half hours was spent in easy conversation. A true gentleman! Two free tickets to his show were forthcoming - $280 each! Well done Wendy!
Careless People, authored by Sarah Wyn-Williams - is the inside story on Facebook. Malcolm blitzed the market with a $50 bid.
Main Speaker:
Don introduced our speaker - Garth Lovatt - an engineer who loves a challenge! Ozone is his thing - and its treating and healing powers.
It all starts with water treatment. Ozone is a very aggressive oxidising agent and will kill anything. It is also highly corrosive. (There is a reason why we use sodium hypochlorite for water treatment in reticulation)
Garth spoke of his contacts in Germany and the use of ozone for medical purposes in the form of an infused oil. Its advantage is its versatility and the absence of any residual chemical compounds.
It can treat rheumatism, osteoarthritis, and similar decrepitudinous conditions, although it is not claimed to be a cure - not that anything else is either. MDPI is an open source for research papers on the topic of ozone treatment. There is a treatment clinic in Russia that publishes the research, and the results of treatments.
When Cuba was sanctioned by the US post their revolution, many medicines were not available, and consequently, ozone was used as a cheap and available substitute with great success.
Ozone can be used to treat skin conditions, such as shingles, and burns, and even sniffles before they become colds. A friend was blessed with a miracle cure for his ailing foot.
Not surprisingly Big Pharma does not like the competition.
The big opportunity may be in the dairy sector where cow udder health is very important. Simple spray treatments can provide big dividends from enhanced health performance. There is a great investment opportunity here provided you can head off the traditional suppliers running interferance.
Garth was thanked by all and wished good luck in his further promotional efforts.
The meeting closed at 8.40 am.
There will be no meeting next week (23rd April) due to public holidays.
