President's Notices
Colin, who is the club's o/c RYLA reported that David J, Peter B, Ingrid, Colin's daughter and one other (sorry I didn't get your name) had taken the RYLArians (how else would you describe them?) to their meeting place on Saturday when early worms were still being caught. There were 18 attendees from Parnell, sponsored by Heartland, Westpac, KFC and Beca plus one from the club. Colin needs drivers for about midday this Saturday, the 9th, so if you can help drop him a note at Colin.Wilson@rsmnz.co.nz
Phillippa spoke to members about the new evening forum planned to get underway in August. She will send an email to all members and friends later, with full details, including an invitation for you to pass on to any/all people you know who might like to attend. What we do know is the first meeting will be on 3 August from 6 to 8pm at the Mt Eden Bowling Club, 17 Stokes Road, Mount Eden. Put it in your diary and spread the word.
Phillippa also told the club that The Village Square (the old Blind Institute Building) is considering establishing a chess club. If you're interested or would like to know more contact Phillippa at phillippap@gmail.com
Apology!
Last week's bulletin referred to newly appointed District Governor Alan Smith as the President of St John's. Serious lese majeste, he's the DG, all honour and praise to him! And Evelyn Chan, who was also at our change over, is the area governor for Parnell.
Here is Alan at the DG's changeover. (PS It's also the first picture I've ever put in the bulletin - thanks to the Ever loving for all the technical assistance!)
Sargeant (YHC varies the spelling each time
just to confirm that he never could spell!)
David told us that Ted van Arkle, long time club member, had been honoured by the IOD by being made a Distinguished Fellow. A much deserved recognition of his contribution to business and society generally.
The Speaker:
Incoming President David said that his main emphasis during the year was going to membership and projects. There was a general discussion on potential members and attendance.
