Welcome to another bulletin for 2024.
Attendance; A record 18 including our speakers and guest of David Jones, one Alex Marshall ,who happened to be an economics teacher at ACG College Parnell.

Presidential announcements;
Another good working bee at Parnell community garden ,where much weeding was done. David Hogan had a big load of curtains for Avis from the North Shore, and being the first meeting of the month, Avis, received some donations in kind and dollars to support the Grace Foundation.
Waiheke Art Trail Walk is set for Wednesday this week, 13th March in place of our normal meeting, with Thursday as reserve day if bad weather on Wednesday.
Catch the 10.00 ferry ,bus to walk, walk 2km, have some lunch, then bus back to ferry.
You will need a Hop card as well as your Gold Card (if applicable)
Walk the sculptures (20) along the coast then retire to lunch with hosts Ingrid, Phil and Don.
3 Minute speaker was Collin who followed David's previous theme of Rugby by recounting 3 notable matches he attended;
1)was a match at Kaitaia between the third grade and the golden oldies, who included Michael Jones-
2)was at the MCG where Australia beat the All Blacks and post match Colin bumped into John Eals-
3)was the 1981 test at Eden Park, Springboks vs All Blacks, the opening test where a Mr Jones flour bombed the players from a light aircraft and ended up with 6 months jail.
Sargent Wendy again raised over $200, (record attendance obviously).
Reminded us that when she was at school Pluto was still a planet-National dentist day-1945 the modern trampalene invented-high heels running up Te Mata peak-Ophrey Whimphry leaving Weightwatchers-55 people voted more than 4 times in last election-Max flew in a Hercules to Wellington some time last century-light travels faster than sound so some people seem bright before you hear them speak.
Speakers were Kino and Elisa, students from ACG college Parnell who we part sponsored to attend the recent Rotary National residential Science Forum. Held over 2 weeks from 6th January with 120students from round NZ-Med school visit including the specimins room-Chemistry visit to Massey University on the North Shore-disecting heart of a sheep-Robotics-food science learning about link to smell and taste-Physics and magnetic storms-Biology with bird tracking and living labs measuring native vegetation.
Social activities included walking and volleyball with team competitions, debating and a beach day at Long Bay.
25% of students caught Covid which resulted in 5 days isolation. A Dragons Den was held where business ideas had to be pitched.
The two students seem to have gained a lot from the Forum and thanked Parnell Rotary for their sponsorship assistance.
