Sargent's session
" I picked up a hitchhiker the other day. Well, you have to if you've knocked them down!"
Three minute speaker:
YHC - who modesty prevents comments on just how scintillating he was!
Speaker:
Chris Osborne, president of Auckland Rotaract told us of the multitudinous activities of the sprightly young club. Chris an accountant who is now Manager of AA Insurance's response to climate change. He came across as a bright, energetic young man, an inspiration to Rotaractors who have doubled their membership this year.
The club is very informal with most communications via social media. Their website can be accessed via. linktr.ee/RotaractAKL
(It does work - YHC has just tested it!)
It has a number of projects with the overarching one being GECAF (give every child a future) which is focusing on vaccination for children in the Pacific.
Rotaract Oceania is hosting an online session this year to support the Rotary Give Every Child A Future project and the #moveforGECAF awareness campaign. We have the wonderful Michelle Tanner coming back, but this time she will be giving us a more on the ground update on Rotary Give Every Child A Future, she will be updating us on the vaccine roll out, how the funds raised are being used and the incredible work being done on the ground. If you have contributed to either Rotary Give Every Child A Future or the #moveforGECAF awareness campaign or would like to be involved or informed, come along on 2 October at 9am NZDT (which is 1 October at 10pm CEST for those on the far side of the world).
The next Generation of Rotaract leaders are taking the stage for their first Oceania international event so it would be great to see our Rotarians come out to support them. The event is on zoom and you must register to get the link: https://forms.gle/KgaasADwnUyNPnaM8
