The sargeant opened the meeting, as usual, by telling us to take a seat. Unfortunately there weren't enough so a few members had to wait to be seated - a good problem to have!
There were 17 members present plus a guest, who wasn't introduced.
There were apologies from Greg who will be in Uncle Sam's fair land until 18th May and Wendy who still has leave of absence but we look forward to seeing her back soon.

The bulletin:
YHC was accused of using flowery language! There are about 575,000 words in the English language and YHC only knows about 30,000 of them, and very few about gardening so grossly unfair! But, you do have to be read to be wrong!
Sergeant:
He confirmed that a member needed a lot of balls to play golf as badly as he did. Not being a golfer YHC didn't understand the joke!
The Speaker:
Guy Slocum was a Royal Air Force fighter pilot.
He spoke about being a pilot during the cold war. He flew various planes including Hunters, Phantoms and Harriers, all of which had their own characteristics. Not only did he fly with the RAF he also had an attachment with the Fleet Air Arm, the Royal Navy's flying wing and described the difficulties of taking off and landing on an aircraft carrier.
During the Cold War Guy was involved in interception flights, meeting Russian bombers over the Norwegian sea. He also spent time at the RAF base in Cyprus and claimed that his activities there were still confidential although it is widely known that the RAF supported Turkey, a NATO ally, and supported Arab allies in the Middle East.
Right: YHC is off to Whangarei to see the Hundertwasser exhibition!
